The safari starts with a transfer to Snowtrail’s safari house in a small village outside Rovaniemi, where you get your winter gear and a safety briefing on the snowmobile.
The route runs through snow-covered forest and past the Pisavaara Nature Reserve, with a stop part-way at a wilderness cabin to warm up by the fire. Back at the safari house there is time with Snowtrail’s reindeer before the transfer home.
The route is 8 km. The listing does not publish how much of the four hours is spent on the snowmobile, or how large the group gets beyond calling it small. Ask for those before comparing it with other operators.

Who can drive, and where do children ride?
Only guests aged 18 or older with a valid driving licence can drive. Everyone else rides. Children under 145 cm travel in the sleigh pulled by the guide's snowmobile; anyone taller can ride as a passenger on a snowmobile, and adults who would rather not be on one at all can take the sleigh too. The page does not say how many people share a machine, so a family should ask how the adults, the passengers and the sleigh are split before booking, especially if only one adult in the group can drive.
What are we liable for if the snowmobile is damaged?
The tour page does not say. It mentions no insurance, no damage deductible and no liability terms for the driver, and on a snowmobile tour that is the figure most likely to exceed the ticket price. Ask Snowtrail in writing what the driver pays if a machine is damaged, and whether a lower deductible can be bought, before anyone in the group signs the rental terms at the safari house.
Can we book it as a private tour?
Snowtrail says any of its tours can be made private, and this one is listed as a small-group tour by default. The page gives no price for the private version, no minimum number of guests and no difference in route or programme, so you will need to ask for a quote. If the reason is a group of mixed ages, the sleigh in the standard tour already lets children come without a private booking.
