Kemi: activities, tours and guides

Kemi is a coastal town on the Bothnian Bay, and in winter the frozen sea is its landscape: most of the snowmobile rides and the ice fishing here run on the sea ice rather than on fells or lakes.

Kemi is a town on the Bothnian Bay, and in winter the sea freezes into a white plain that the snowmobile rides and the ice fishing here run on. Most of the tours below start from one safari house on Lumilinnankatu, the same street as the SnowCastle area, or collect you from your hotel.

The icebreaker cruise checks in at the same SnowCastle area and runs shuttles from Kemi, Rovaniemi, Tornio, Haparanda and Oulu.1 It is a day out of its own and is not compared in the guides below.

Huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles, the northern lights and ice fishing are all sold here. Santa is not: no programme turned up for Kemi on the booking platforms, so the Santa guide below points to the nearest visits inland, in Ylitornio, Ranua and Rovaniemi.
