Private husky tour in Posio: what the kennel sells for one group

The short answer

If you want the dogs and the trail to yourselves, the kennel's two-day adventure is the only programme it runs for one group, for two to six people with a night in a cabin. For a single day, there is no private ride on its price list; the closest you can get is booking a sled to yourself on a shared ride, which costs 90 euros more than sharing one.

The Posio kennel beside Riisitunturi prints one programme as private: its two-day husky adventure, “run privately only for your own group”.1

The private trip

Two days with the dogs, lunches cooked over a fire, a night in a cabin and a sauna, for two to six people. It costs 995 euros a head when two share a sled, or 1,155 for someone driving alone.

On a day ride

The day rides are shared with whoever else has booked. What the kennel does sell is a sled without a passenger: on the twenty- and thirty-kilometre rides it costs 90 euros more than sharing.2 That buys a team of your own, not a trail of your own.

Choosing

For privacy, the two days are the only printed answer. For a single day, book the ride you want, take a sled each if the budget allows, and ask the kennel whether it can close the date to your group.

Questions people ask

Could the kennel run a day ride for our group only?

Its pages do not offer one, and they print no price for it. They do say that the two-day programme is run privately for your own party, which shows the kennel does organise group-only trips. Asking is free: write to the kennel with your group size and date and ask whether a day ride can be closed to other guests, and at what price.

What about the three-day trip?

The kennel also sells a three-day programme with two nights in a wilderness cabin, reindeer smoked meat and a sauna, for two to eight people at 1,075 euros a head. Unlike the two-day adventure, its page does not say it is run for one group only, so if privacy matters on a trip that long, ask whether other guests can join before booking.

Is anything private sold near Posio instead?

Not among the husky rides this site has read within an hour and a half. The Ranua kennel's seated ride and driving tour are sold per person on a booking platform, and the Kemijärvi and Salla rides are shared too. For a private husky day, the Posio kennel's own sales desk is the place to start.

Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
