Family snowmobile safari in Luosto

The short answer
With children, choose between the amethyst mine, the ice fishing trip and the reindeer farm, all of which take children from two and list a child of two or three at no charge. Take the petrol ice fishing trip rather than the electric one unless the adults want the quiet ride, because your children sit behind a petrol snowmobile on both. Leave the electric special and the day over the fells for when everyone is fifteen.

Highlighted figures are the best in that row: the lowest adult price and the lowest child fare. All four are Lapland Safaris trips, and the child fares appear on its pages only when children are added to the participants. Two adults share each machine and take turns driving.

Lapland Safaris sells seven trips from Luosto that use a snowmobile, and five of them take a child. The four in the table put the child in the same seat, a sled pulled behind the guide’s snowmobile, and a child of two or three travels at no charge. What differs is the fare from four to fourteen and what the adults pay on top.
The electric trip does not change the child’s ride
The ice fishing trip is sold twice, on petrol snowmobiles for 171 euros an adult and on electric ones for 206. The child fare is 86 euros on both, and the operator’s page for the electric trip explains why: an electric snowmobile cannot pull a sled, so the children ride behind a petrol machine driven by the guide either way. For two adults with a six-year-old and a three-year-old the quiet costs 70 euros, 498 against 428.
What the other two cost
The amethyst mine trip is the lowest at 163 euros an adult and 82 a child, 408 euros for the same family, for two hours with a stop at the mine. The reindeer farm trip is the highest at 209 and 105, 523 euros, for three and a half hours.
The evening trip, and the trips that take no children
The aurora safari by snowmobile takes children on the same terms in the evening, 92 euros from four and nothing under four; it is priced with the other aurora tours on northern lights tour prices in Pyhä-Luosto.
The electric snowmobile special, a morning ride to coffee in a kota, and the full day over the fells from Luosto to Pyhä are for adults and children over fifteen only. LuckyRanch’s private ride from a ranch near Pyhä says children are seated in a sled, but its listing shows one price per person and no child fare, so ask before booking.
The first week of January
On Lapland Safaris’ January 2027 calendar, one adult with a child of four to fourteen and a child of two or three paid 40 to 52 euros more on the first dates of the month than later: 285 against 245 on the amethyst trip, 299 against 257 on the petrol fishing trip, 334 against 292 on the electric one and 366 against 314 to the reindeer farm.
Where each trip goes, what engine it uses and how cancellation works are compared on snowmobile safaris in Luosto, the fishing on ice fishing in Pyhä-Luosto, and the reindeer rides on reindeer safaris in Luosto.
What a kilometre of trail costs on each husky safari, and why a child pays three quarters of the adult fare here, is worked out in husky safari prices in Pyhä-Luosto.

Questions people ask
Our ten-year-old is tall. Where do they sit?
It depends on height, not age. On these Lapland Safaris trips a child taller than 140 cm may sit on the snowmobile behind a parent instead of in the guide's sled, but then pays the adult fare. On the amethyst trip that is 163 euros instead of 82. A child who would rather stay in the sled with a younger brother or sister keeps the child fare.
Can a pregnant parent come along?
Lapland Safaris says its snowmobile programmes are not suitable for pregnant women, because of the physical strain, the vibration on uneven tracks and the exhaust fumes. Its reindeer rides are not recommended during pregnancy either, so on these trips a pregnant parent is better off staying in the village while the others go.
Can a small child be turned away on the day?
Yes. Lapland Safaris reserves the right to refuse small children for safety reasons, such as demanding weather or trail conditions, and it does not recommend snowmobile safaris for children under two. If the forecast is severe, ask the safari desk before you set out whether the trip will take a toddler that day.
