Ranua: activities, tours and guides

Ranua is best known for its Wildlife Park, whose resort also sells winter outings of its own. Kennels, reindeer farms and an activity company sell the rest, mostly on their own sites.

Ranua’s own winter outings come from more companies than the booking platforms show, and most of them sell on their own sites. Ranua Resort, which runs the Wildlife Park, sells snowmobile safaris and aurora evenings of its own from its Safari House, and books husky rides from a second kennel, Arctic Borealis Huskies, and reindeer rides with local farms. Lupland Adventures, leaving from Arctic Guesthouse & Igloos in the village, runs snowmobile safaris, an activity park with reindeer by day and after dark, and aurora hunts, and sells sleigh rides from Kaktsa Reindeers. Trott Husky runs husky outings from its kennel, and Vaara Reindeer Farm sells visits and sleigh safaris at the farm.

The Wildlife Park, which says it is open every day of the year and is home to Finland’s only polar bear, sells a one-day ticket on its own for anyone already in Ranua.1 Several of the guided trips to the park that the booking platforms list under Ranua start in Rovaniemi; those are compared in Ranua Wildlife Park from Rovaniemi. Ranua Resort also sells a sleigh ride to Santa’s cabin in the forest and a guided day to the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, compared in Santa Claus in Ranua, and both the resort and Lupland take guests out ice fishing, as ice fishing in Ranua sets out.
