Inari: activities, tours and guides

Inari is the lakeside village on Lake Inari known for Sámi culture. Two companies in the village sell a full winter programme on their own sites, which the booking platforms do not show.

Inari sits on the shore of Lake Inari, which the regional tourist site also calls the Sámi Sea, and is home to the Sámi Museum Siida and the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos.1 Ivalo Airport is about 50 minutes away by car.2

Most of what is sold in Inari is not on the booking platforms. Visit Inari runs husky, snowmobile, reindeer, aurora and fishing trips from its safari office in the middle of the village and collects guests from the village hotels, and Wilderness Hotel Inari sells huskies, snowmobiles, reindeer, aurora evenings and, around Christmas, a meeting with Santa. Both sell on their own sites.

What the platforms do show is smaller: a reindeer ranch and a fishing guide near the village, a Sámi herding family’s workshop, and several outings from Muotkan Ruoktu, a fell lodge on Route 92, the road towards Nordkapp, which you reach by car. The guides below cover all of them.
