Tornio: activities, tours and guides

Tornio shares most of what it sells with Haparanda, its Swedish twin across the river border, and several trips sold here start somewhere else.

The booking platforms file Tornio’s tours together with Haparanda’s, and most of them collect you in either town. Two companies sell aurora evenings with a hotel pick-up, compared in northern lights in Tornio. LappOne Experiences, which has its office at the travel centre the two towns share, also runs a half-day trip to the old fishing village at the Kukkola rapids, a twenty-minute drive away on the Swedish side,1 and e-Coach runs a guided walk up the Kivalot hills with transport from anywhere in the Kemi, Tornio and Haparanda area.

The icebreaker cruises sold with a pick-up in Tornio or Haparanda sail from the harbour in Kemi or, on the Swedish company’s two ships, from Axelsvik across the border; all four are compared in icebreaker cruises from Tornio. A snowmobile and ice-fishing company works from Tornio itself, as snowmobile safari in Tornio and ice fishing in Tornio set out, and the nearest husky kennel is across the river in Sweden, compared with the Kemi rides in husky safari in Tornio. No reindeer visit is sold in either town.
