Private reindeer tour from Tornio: is there one?

The short answer

Do not expect to buy one near Tornio. The farm visit out of Kemi, the Santa station in Ylitornio and the park in Ranua all sell places to individuals, and none of them promises your party the reindeer to itself. Ask the Kemi company whether it will run its farm visit for your group alone; if privacy is the whole point and the answer is no, the nearest listing sold as private is in Levi.

Every reindeer outing within reach of Tornio is sold by the head, to whoever books it.

What the nearby outings say

The Kemi farm visit prices each person and says nothing about how many others share the afternoon. The Ranua park prices each person too, and needs at least two to run, which tells you about its floor but not its ceiling. The Santa station in Ylitornio is a ticketed park, open to everyone who buys a ticket for the day. None of the three is private, and none claims to be.

The nearest private listing

The closest reindeer visit sold as private is a farm tour in Levi, 270 kilometres north.1 From Tornio that is a long day for two hours with the reindeer, and makes sense only for a party already heading north.

What to ask for instead

A company that sells places can often say whether a date is booked by anyone else. Ask the Kemi company that when you book: an afternoon with nobody else booked is a private visit in all but name. The visit itself is described on reindeer farm from Kemi.

Tours you can book

Questions people ask

Should we book the Kemi visit with the company rather than the platform?

For a request like a private afternoon, talking to the company is the only way to ask. Its own site lists the farm visit, with feeding, a lasso lesson and the sleigh ride, but shows no price, so there is nothing to compare with the platform's 125 euros a head until you have an answer from them. Ask for any change to the format in writing.

What about a private husky or snowmobile trip instead?

If the point is an outing for your own party, the kennel on the Swedish side of the Tornio river sells only private husky rides, and the lodge in Keminmaa sells a private husky safari. Neither involves reindeer. They are set out on this site's husky pages for Tornio, and the privacy they offer is written into their listings rather than something you have to ask for.

What does the private Levi tour cost?

The listing, seen on Viator in September 2026, shows 149 euros for two hours and does not say whether that is for each person or for the whole party. The difference decides whether it is cheap or dear for a family, so ask before comparing it with anything else, and remember to add the drive from Tornio, which takes more of the day than the visit does.
