Santa Claus price in Enontekiö: what a family pays

Glowing bulb string lights and small star garlands lying on snow in blue light

The short answer

For a family staying in Hetta, book the local forest visit: one price covers everyone up to six, so the children add nothing. A couple travelling alone pays less in Levi, which charges per person, but has to drive there. Muonio sells Santa only inside a stay of several nights, and the free office in Rovaniemi costs nothing at the door but the whole day in the car.

How the operators compare

Prices are the operators' own published starting prices as of the date this guide was updated, and they change through the season.

Vilu, EnontekiöArctic Shaman, LeviHarriniva, Muonio
Price as printed €348 per family From €150 per person From €1,124 per person
Two adults and two children €348 Not stated Not stated
Two adults €348 €300 – the lowest total for two adults From €2,248

Highlighted figures are the best in that row: the lowest total for two adults. Totals are the printed prices multiplied by the number of people; where no child fare is published the family total is left as not stated.

Where these figures come from
  • Vilu, Enontekiö: The forest visit near Hetta, one family at a time, with pick-up in Hetta and a small gift for each child.
  • Arctic Shaman, Levi: A private half-day in Levi, 100 minutes away, priced per person with no child fare on the listing.
  • Harriniva, Muonio: A Christmas stay of three or four nights, 54 minutes away, with a private Santa visit among its programmes.

Levi’s private Santa visit charges each person. The one near Hetta charges the family: 348 euros for up to six people.1

What that does to the totals

A couple pays the same as a family of six, so the forest visit is at its best value for a large family. For two adults alone Levi comes out lower; with even one child the comparison depends on a child fare Levi does not print.

Cancelling

The local company keeps the whole price if you cancel inside seven days and returns the rest, less an administration fee, if you cancel earlier.2 Harriniva keeps the whole reservation once it is paid.

Questions people ask

Is anything extra on the forest visit?

The family price includes the meeting, the elf-led walk and a small gift for each child, and the company collects you in Hetta. One extra is offered: a soft reindeer toy for each child at an additional cost, whose price is not printed on the visit page. Nothing else is listed as extra.

Does it cost more to be collected from Hetta?

The visit page gives two ways to start, a pick-up from your accommodation in Hetta or meeting the company at its starting point in Vuontisjärvi, against a single family price, and lists no separate transport charge. If you are staying outside Hetta, ask whether they collect you there before assuming the same price applies.

Is the Muonio package a Santa price at all?

Not in the sense of the others. It starts at 1,124 euros per person for three or four nights with full board, winter clothing, transfers and several programmes, of which a private Santa visit is one. It only makes sense to compare if you were going to book a Christmas stay anyway.

Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
