Private Santa visit in Ranua: small, but not sold as private

The short answer
Ask the resort whether your family can have a cabin visit alone, because nothing in Ranua is sold as a private meeting: the forest cabin prices per person and takes up to eight people per visit. If a guaranteed private visit matters, it is a Rovaniemi booking, an hour's drive away, where private meetings are priced per family or per party and cost considerably more.
Nothing in Ranua is sold as a private meeting with Santa. What the resort sells is small, and it describes the moment in the cabin as private, but the price is per person and each visit takes up to eight people.
The cabin: small, and worth asking about
The forest cabin takes at most eight people on each visit and is booked by email to the reception.1 Its page does not say whether one family can have a visit to itself, or what that would cost. A family of four is half a full sleigh, so the honest way to find out is to ask for a visit alone when you write, and to see what the reception offers.
The one thing booked by your party alone
The resort’s two Christmas escape rooms are priced for the party, by the number of players up to six, rather than for each person, and your party plays the room.2 They are a Christmas story rather than a meeting with Santa, so they answer the wish for privacy but not the wish to see him.
Where the private visits are
Rovaniemi, about an hour’s drive away, sells meetings with Santa that are private by design: priced per family, per party or with a small minimum, and at prices from a little under 250 euros to well over 2,000. They are compared, with what each includes, on a private Santa visit in Rovaniemi.
Questions people ask
Does a private visit in Rovaniemi collect us in Ranua?
Not the ones this site has read. The private visits that include transport collect within about ten kilometres of Rovaniemi's centre, so from Ranua you either drive the hour to the pick-up or arrange with the operator to meet at the venue. Settle which before paying, because a family of four on the wrong side of that hour loses the slot it booked.
Can the escape room be booked at other times than one and three?
Yes, but not online. The resort's shop offers online starts at one and three in the afternoon, and says other times can be booked through the ticket office or the reception, as long as the room is free and the office or reception is open. For a party that wants the room at a quiet hour, write or call rather than waiting for the checkout to show it.
What if our group is bigger than eight?
Then it is more than one cabin visit, because eight is the most each visit takes. The resort also treats any booking of more than eleven participants as a group booking with its own terms: the number of people you will be billed for has to be confirmed fourteen days ahead and cannot be changed after that. A large family should agree the number early.
