Reindeer safari prices in Saariselkä

The short answer

For the most time in the sleigh for the money, take the ride that lists an hour in the sleigh rather than 45 minutes. With a baby or a toddler, book one of Lapland Safaris' two rides, which take all ages and list children under four at no charge, and prefer the morning ride, which costs less than the evening one for the same time in the sleigh. Avoid the first week of January if you can, when the same places cost more.

How the operators compare

Prices are the operators' own published starting prices as of the date this guide was updated, and they change through the season.

Lapland Safaris: morningLapland Safaris: eveningEasy TravelLapponia Tours
Adult price €170 €182 €169 – the lowest adult price €189
Child fare, 4–14 €85 €91 Not stated Not stated
Children under 4 €0 €0 Not stated Not under 7
Time in the sleigh About 45 min About 45 min About 1 h Not stated
Adult price per minute in the sleigh €3.78 €4.04 €2.82 – the lowest price per minute in the sleigh Not stated
Two adults, a child of six and a baby €425 €455 Not stated Not taken

Highlighted figures are the best in that row: the lowest adult price and the lowest price per minute in the sleigh. Lapland Safaris shows its child fares only when children are added to the participants, and the family totals use them. The other two listings show one price each, so no family total is given.

Where these figures come from
  • Lapland Safaris: morning: Daily at ten, with all ages taken and children under four listed at no charge. Twelve euros less than the evening ride for the same 45 minutes in the sleigh.
  • Lapland Safaris: evening: The dearest minute in the sleigh here, paid for a 7 pm start rather than a longer ride. The same child fare rules as the morning ride, a few euros higher.
  • Easy Travel: The lowest adult price and the lowest price per minute, because the listing gives an hour in the sleigh. It shows one price, so ask what a child pays.
  • Lapponia Tours: The highest price, an evening that includes feeding the reindeer. It does not state the time in the sleigh and is not for children under seven.

The four reindeer rides in the table start within twenty euros of each other, and the headline prices say less than two other numbers: the time each listing puts in the sleigh, and what the children pay.

A minute in the sleigh

Easy Travel’s listing gives an hour in the sleigh for 169 euros, which is 2.82 euros a minute. Lapland Safaris’ morning ride gives about 45 minutes for 170, 3.78 a minute, and its evening ride the same 45 minutes for 182, 4.04 a minute. The twelve euros between Lapland Safaris’ two rides buy an evening start, not more ride. Lapponia Tours does not say how long its sleigh ride lasts, so its 189 euros cannot be divided.

What children and babies pay

Lapland Safaris’ two rides take all ages, and its pages show the child fares once children are added to the booking: 85 euros in the morning and 91 in the evening from four to fourteen, and nothing for a child under four. Two adults with a six-year-old and a baby pay 425 euros in the morning and 455 in the evening. Easy Travel’s listing shows one price, so ask for a child fare before booking, and Lapponia Tours does not take children under seven.

The snowmobile trip to a reindeer farm, with about 600 metres behind a reindeer, takes children from two only; it is priced for families on family snowmobile safari in Saariselkä.

The first week of January

On Lapland Safaris’ January 2027 calendar, one adult with a child and a baby cost 255 euros on the morning ride from 7 January but 297 from the 2nd to the 6th, 42 euros more. The evening ride showed 318 euros on the 1st, 5th and 6th against 273 from the 8th.

What else each ride includes, when it leaves and how you get there are compared on reindeer safari in Saariselkä, and the rest of the resort is on the Saariselkä destination page.

Tours you can book

Questions people ask

Is a reindeer ride all right during pregnancy?

Lapland Safaris advises against it. Its reindeer pages say the excursions can be physically demanding and that, to avoid complications, it does not recommend reindeer programmes to pregnant women. The other listings here say nothing either way in our record, so ask the operator before booking rather than assuming a slow sleigh is fine.

We are staying outside the village. Is the transfer included?

It depends on the ride and on where you stay. Lapponia Tours lists transfers from Kiilopää, Kakslauttanen, Muotka, Inari and Ivalo as not included, so a family staying there pays extra or drives to the safari house. Easy Travel lists hotel pickup and drop-off as included, and Lapland Safaris includes a transfer on its morning ride; check that your hotel is on their route before you pay.

How many people share the ride?

Only one listing gives a number. Easy Travel's ride takes a maximum of 15 travellers. Lapland Safaris and Lapponia Tours do not state a group size in our record. If group size matters to you, ask the other two operators before booking; a listing that does not state it has not promised a small group.

Lapland Handbook Staff

Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
