Private Santa visit in Enontekiö: what private means here

Small lanterns glowing orange among deep snow at night, a dark building behind them

The short answer

Book the local forest visit: it is already private and one price covers up to six people, so the larger your family the better it compares. Levi's private visit, 100 minutes away, is priced per person. Muonio's comes only inside a Christmas package, and the Kilpisjärvi farm arranges one on enquiry without a published price. Rovaniemi's private options are its own page.

How the operators compare

Prices are the operators' own published starting prices as of the date this guide was updated, and they change through the season.

One price is per family, one per person and one unpublished, so the row is not ranked. Muonio's private meeting is sold only inside a Christmas package of several nights.

Where these figures come from
  • Vilu, Enontekiö: A walk into the forest near Hetta and a meeting with Santa outdoors, one family at a time, collected in Hetta.
  • Arctic Shaman, Levi: A private half-day in Levi with about thirty minutes in Santa's company, for one family or group.
  • Kilpis Reindeer, Kilpisjärvi: A private Santa visit at a family reindeer farm, arranged by enquiry and not bookable online.

In Enontekiö you do not have to pay extra for privacy: the one Santa visit sold here is private by design, one family at a time.1

What the fixed price does

Because the price is for the family, it compares best for a family of five or six and worst for a couple. Levi works the other way round: each person pays, so the private meeting there grows dearer with every person in the party; the listing prints no child fare.

The small print

The terms refund nothing inside seven days and let you cancel free when it is colder than minus thirty-two.2 Book once your dates are firm.

Questions people ask

Does Santa know the children's names?

The company asks for the children's names and a few details about their interests before the visit, so that the meeting feels personal. Send them when you book rather than on the day. The same page says Santa speaks English, with parents welcome to translate for a child who does not.

How long do we actually have with Santa?

The company puts the meeting at usually around twenty minutes, inside a walk and meeting of thirty to forty minutes, and it says the meeting lasts as long as it feels natural. Levi's private visit is longer overall at two and a half hours, with about half an hour in Santa's company.

Are the children given anything?

Yes: a small gift for each child is included in the family price, handed over by Santa during the meeting. The company also offers a soft reindeer toy for each child at an additional cost. Its price is not printed on the visit page, so ask before adding it if you are counting the total.

Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
