Snow Village from Levi: which trip to book

The short answer

Book a trip that includes the entry ticket, so the price you see is the price you pay. The evening visit is the cheapest of those and stops if the aurora appears on the way; the daytime tour with a soup lunch gives the most time. The transport-only trip looks cheapest but leaves the ticket to be bought on top. Nothing runs before the Snow Village opens for the season on Christmas Day.

How the operators compare

Prices are the operators' own published starting prices as of the date this guide was updated, and they change through the season.

Highlighted figures are the best in that row: the lowest price per person. All four price per person. The price row is marked on the figure as listed; the first column does not include the entry ticket, which the Snow Village had not priced for this winter when checked.

Where these figures come from
  • Polar work service: A return ride from the centre of Levi and time to walk round at your own pace. The entry ticket is not included and is bought separately, so the real price is higher than it looks.
  • Northern Lights Safaris: The cheapest trip with the entry ticket in the price, collecting you from your accommodation. It goes after dark and allows extra time if the aurora appears, which is not guaranteed.
  • Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park: The longest of the four, with a guide, the entry ticket and a soup lunch. Drinks are extra.
  • Easy Travel: The entry ticket, a guide in English, pick-up from hotels in the Levi and Sirkka area, and a hot drink in the ice bar. The dearest of the four.

The Snow Village stands at Lainio in the municipality of Kittilä, and is built again from snow and ice every winter with a new theme. Its own page gives the reopening date as 25 December 2026 and says the details of the new season will be published in the autumn.1 Every trip below runs only once it is open.

Entry included, or not

The line that separates these trips is the entry ticket. Three of the four in the table include it, so their price is the whole cost of the visit. The cheapest trip, from Polar work service, is transport only: a return ride and time to explore on your own, with the ticket bought on arrival. Because the Snow Village had not yet published its price for the season, that trip cannot be totalled in advance.

Evening or daytime

Northern Lights Safaris goes after dark, collects you from your accommodation and says it will stop and wait if the aurora appears on the way. It is the cheapest way in with the ticket included. Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park goes by day, takes four hours and serves a soup lunch. Easy Travel sits between the two on time and adds a drink in the ice bar and a guide in English.

By snowmobile

Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park also sells the visit as a five-hour snowmobile safari with the entry ticket, a buffet lunch and overalls and boots lent, for 299 euros. It is listed under the table because it is a different purchase: a day of driving with the Snow Village as its destination. It is closed to children under eleven.

On your own

The Snow Village’s page names a bus from the tourist centres of Levi and Ylläs that runs daily while it is open, with tickets sold on the Matkahuolto website or by the driver, and a skiing route of about 50 kilometres from Levi.1 Going this way, you pay the bus and the entry ticket separately and plan your own time there.

Snowmobile day trips from the resort are compared in snowmobile safaris in Levi, and the rest of the resort is on the Levi destination page.

Tours you can book

Questions people ask

Can we visit before Christmas?

No. The Snow Village's own page says it is closed and opens again on 25 December 2026, and that information for the new season will be published in the autumn. The trips from Levi are listed all year, so check that the date you pick falls after the opening before you pay, and be ready for the programme to change once the season is announced.

What should we wear inside?

The same as outdoors. The halls, the bar and the sculptures are made of snow and ice, and none of the trips on this page includes a warm room to wait in apart from the transport. Only the snowmobile trip lends overalls and boots; the evening visit says outright that winter clothing is not included, so bring it or hire it in the resort.

Can we stay the night there?

The Snow Village's own site lists snow suites alongside the ice exhibition and its restaurants, but none of the trips sold from Levi includes a night, and this page does not compare them. A stay is booked with the Snow Village itself; a trip from Levi is a visit of a few hours that brings you back to the resort the same day.

Lapland Handbook Staff

Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
