Snowmobile safari in Levi: which one to book
Illustration photo: a snowmobile in deep snow, not on one of the tours compared here.
The short answer
For a first go, a short beginners' ride is enough to know whether you like it. For the most time on the machine, book the tour whose listing says the whole two hours are spent driving. Families should book the one that seats children in a sledge behind the guide, because a child cannot drive and some tours do not take young ones at all. Every price here is per person with two people sharing a snowmobile, so a couple pays twice.

The only listing that promises the full two hours on the snowmobile, with dressing and the briefing done before the clock starts. For adults who want the most driving for the ticket.
Highlighted figures are the best in that row: the lowest price per person. All four price per person, and on the three GetYourGuide tours two adults share each snowmobile. Only price is marked; a longer tour is not a better one for a first-timer.

Levi’s snowmobile listings mostly say the same thing: two hours, forest trails, a hot drink in the middle. Read further and they part company on the two questions that decide which one suits you: how much of the time you actually spend driving, and what happens to a child who is too young to drive.
The four tours in the table cover the range from a one-hour introduction to the two-hour safaris. Every price is per person.
For a first try
Wild Nordic Levi’s one-hour beginners’ tour is the cheapest ticket here and the sensible first booking for anyone who has never driven a snowmobile. An hour is enough to learn the throttle, find out whether the cold on your face is exhilarating or miserable, and decide whether a longer safari later in the week is worth it. Winter clothing is lent, and there is a return transfer from its meeting point, though not from your hotel door.
For the most driving
Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park is the one listing that says its two hours are two hours of driving, with dressing and the briefing done before the safari starts. On the other two-hour tours the listings do not say how the time is split between getting ready and riding, so you cannot compare them on it.
Its regular price is a few euros above the others; on the day we read it, it was also on offer below them.
With children
Safartica’s two-hour forest safari seats children aged four to fourteen in a sledge towed behind the guide’s snowmobile, so the adults drive and the children come along, dressed in the operator’s clothing. It is the clearest answer in Levi to the question every family asks first.
Lapland Safaris is the other possibility. Its tour runs daily in the afternoon and it sells child fares from the age of two, which suggests small children can come, but its page does not say how they travel. Ask before booking. Wild Nordic and the Snowmobile Park do not take the youngest children at all.
For how snowmobile safaris work in general, from what the driver is responsible for to why a damage excess matters, the Rovaniemi snowmobile safari guide covers it in full. Everything else in the resort is on the Levi destination page.

What an hour of driving costs on each safari, what one machine costs for two riders and what a family of four pays are worked out in snowmobile safari prices in Levi.

Questions people ask
What licence does the driver need?
A full car licence, category B, carried in physical form. Wild Nordic Levi sets the driver's minimum age at 18 and says that copies, photographs and digital licences are not accepted, and that a guest who arrives without the plastic card cannot drive and gets no refund. The Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park listing says the same about photos, digital copies and provisional licences. A passenger needs no licence, so a couple where only one person has theirs with them can still go, with one of them riding the whole way.
Can I have a snowmobile to myself?
Not at the advertised price. On all three GetYourGuide listings the per-person price assumes two adults sharing one machine, and Wild Nordic lists a single-driver snowmobile among the things not included, which means it is available at extra cost rather than as standard. Its listing also warns that a solo traveller, or a group with an odd number of people, may be paired with someone from another party. If riding alone matters to you, ask for the supplement before you book rather than at the start.
Is there a longer option than two hours?
Yes. Safartica runs a six-hour safari into the wilderness for €249 a person, with four to five hours of driving, two to a snowmobile, and a soup lunch. It does not take children under 13; a child of at least 140 cm who is strong enough may ride as a passenger on an adult ticket. It is the one to book if the two-hour tours already feel short on paper, and too long a day for anyone who has never driven a snowmobile before.
