Mrs Claus has her own cottage at the village, with elves, stories and a café you can walk into, but she keeps a winter calendar: the cottage closes over the summer months. The elves run an academy where children become elves for the day. Each of these is a different company's attraction rather than part of one Santa ticket, so check each one's hours and book them separately.
Santa Claus Village is not one attraction with a cast. It is a cluster of
separate businesses on the Arctic Circle, and each character in the story
belongs to one of them. That matters for planning, because each keeps its own
hours and takes its own bookings.
Mrs Claus has a cottage, and a calendar
Mrs Claus receives visitors, with her elves, in Mrs. Santa Claus Christmas
Cottage, where she tells stories about Lapland and Christmas. The cottage is in
the Santa Claus Reindeer area of the
village.1 It is run by Santa Claus
Reindeer, the family company that also runs the reindeer park and a Lappish
restaurant there.2
Unlike Santa, she keeps a season. The village’s own page gives the cottage as
closed from 1 May to 30 September 2026, open on weekdays from 1 October to
15 November, every day from 16 November to 10 January, with shorter hours on
Christmas Eve, and Monday to Saturday from 11 January to 27 February
2027.1 A summer visitor will find
the cottage shut.
The elves go to school
The elves have an academy of their own. The Elf’s Hat Academy is described as
the place where elves gather to learn their crafts, and visiting children join
in, leaving with an elf mark and a graduation diploma. It runs in winter and is
operated by Snowmobile Park, the snowmobile company on the same

Santa’s post
The post office that handles Santa’s letters is a real one, run by Posti, the
Finnish postal service, at Tähtikuja 1 on the Arctic
Circle.4 How many letters it
receives, and why the address is here at all, is in
where does Santa Claus live?.
The café in her cottage has free entrance, so you can walk in for a warm drink in the Christmas atmosphere without booking anything. The encounter with Mrs Claus herself is booked through the cottage's own website, and the village's page does not print a price for it, so check there before promising it to the children. Plan the café as the free part of the visit and the meeting as a separate, booked extra.
Who is the Elf Academy suitable for?
The village lists it as suitable for everyone, and it runs in winter. What neither the village page nor this article can tell you is how long it lasts or what it costs, because the listing gives neither, so ask Snowmobile Park when booking. For a family, the useful thing to know is that the children leave with an elf mark and a diploma, which makes it one of the few parts of the day that comes home with you.
What do we say if a child asks whether the elves are real?
The same thing that works for the reindeer: these are the elves who help at the village, and the people who look after the story here are happy to keep it going. What is worth avoiding is a promise that sets up a disappointment later, such as elves who will be there in July. Mrs Claus's cottage keeps a winter calendar, so if you are coming back in summer, say that she is away, not that she will be waiting.
Lapland Handbook is written by its editorial staff in Rovaniemi. Every price, age limit and group size in a comparison is read from the operator's own page and marked "Not stated" when the operator does not publish it. Each guide names who should not book, and names the operator that suits each kind of group, whichever it is.
Rovaniemi's winter tours do sell out – December and the week around New Year first, and the small-group ones before the rest. Booking here goes straight to the operator at their own published price, and the code LH10 takes 10% off it.
We would like to count visits, so we can see which guides get read. That needs a cookie. Nothing else on this site does, we show no advertising, and refusing changes nothing about what you can read or book. What we measure and why.
